Who or what am I is an age old, unanswerable question. It is easier to believe what we are told we are, to play it safe and pretend to be limited.
But for those of us who have the patience, curiosity and courage to continue to ask the question "Who Am I" we will discover that all that can be discovered through the five senses is who we are not. We will discover we have been living a false identity, an alias that is not who we are. We're not our names, family, race, nationality or religion. We are not our possessions, jobs, status, fame, success, or failure. We are not even our personality, thoughts or emotions.
Our beliefs and emotions take on a life of their own. This false “I” dominates our experience and successfully hides all else from our view. Ultimately it comes clear that everything we point to as who or what we are is just a limitation we adopt and become accustomed to. When we give up trying to be anything that our ego identifies with we discover that who we are is “everything”.
We can look into the mirrors we are for each other and discover the illusion and reevaluate what we think we see. If we have the patience and courage to peel away all the layers to find that there is nothing there and yet "we are" still present, we have an immediate and direct experience of that which is doing the looking, that which is asking the question "Who am I". This is the experience of "I AM".
Throughout the ages courageous souls and sages have sought in vain to describe this experience. Once it is described it is limited and becomes what it is not. Our only access to this awareness is direct experience.
Many practices have been devised to provide direct access to this unmistakable awareness. These practices include everything from meditation to taking hallucinogenics. The I AM workshop is but one of these practices. Not unlike meditation, the I AM workshop makes it possible for you to glimpse the Self beyond the ego or small self. It is up to you to decide what you will do with this experience.
